Project Overview – Residence Renovation in Vamanapuram, Thiruvananthapuram
Set in the lush green surroundings of Vamanapuram, this 23-year-old residence—home to a family of five—underwent a thoughtful transformation to meet the evolving needs of its inhabitants. The original structure had low ceilings, underutilized side setbacks, and minimal natural light, which made the rooms feel cramped and disconnected. Common spaces were lacking, and a single toilet served the entire house.
The renovation focused on redefining spatial experience while retaining a sense of rootedness. Each bedroom now has an attached toilet, significantly improving comfort and privacy. A compact yet serene puja space was introduced adjacent to the sit-out, featuring a traditional jali screen that filters light and maintains a sense of calm seclusion.
Modern aesthetics were balanced with minimal traditional elements—clean lines, square geometries, and muted color palettes in white, grey, and soft blues. A pergola above the staircase brings in much-needed sunlight, visually expanding the core and adding vibrancy throughout the day.
This reimagining brings new life to the home, making it more responsive to the family’s current lifestyle while subtly preserving its emotional ties to the past. #HouseRenovation #InteriorDesigner #homeinterior
