gypsum can be used along with cement mortar even for outside. plastering . The advantage is that it gives a better finish . The proportion is that , add one cft of gypsum along with 5cft of cement and sand mixture in the case of 1:6 mix proportion. There is some other technical advantages there as well. Whatever be the disadvantages, as long as there's painting outside the plastering , nothing more to be worried.

gypsum plaster has many advantages compared to cement plaster but damp ess can ruin it.
