I am told to use M20 Cement for column , why is it very specific on it?

actually is not cement type. it's the concrete grade dealing with the max compression load concrete can take. always maintain max. quality for stuctural members like columns and beams.

for all rcc work minimum grade is changed to m20 according to is code. 456-2000. more over column is a compression member.
