The shape of the concrete slumps shows the information on the workability and quality of concrete. The characteristics of concrete with respect to the tendency of segregation can be also judged by making a few tamping or blows by tapping rod on the base plate. This test continues using since 1922 due to the simplicity of apparatus and simple procedure. The shape of the Slump cone shows the workability of concrete. It was indeed a challenge when we had to raise the floor height till the level of overbeam in the first floor of a residence at Town Limit, Kollam. Need for sustainability, cost-effectiveness and innovation inspired us to try coconut shells as infills, over which conventional floor tiles were laid, saving a lot of concrete. It helps create a barrier between the formwork and the concrete, preventing leakage and ensuring clean and defined edges in the finished concrete structure. The tape is applied to the joints and seams of the formwork to seal them tightly, preventing any leakage of concrete during the pouring and curing stages. One unique aspect of shuttering tape is its ability to adhere well to various surfaces, including wood, metal, and plastic.
