Vintage decor grills, patiently and brilliantly crafted compositions in iron flat bars and square sections- the curves, scrolls, petals often in repetitive harmony.. were part of local residential architecture of a period. They were regular finds during our visits to stores that sold demolished and second hand building materials, heavy, sturdy even after 50 years and sometimes still in perfect condition owing to the good care by owners.. ❤ As a practice that is also inspired by period architectural elements and looking to reuse and repurpose wherever possible, these grills have stolen our hearts and have found place in some of our works so far..in a way respecting the lost craft 🙂 #reuse #recycle #vintagestyle #mindfulpractice #trivandrumarchitects #design

It was indeed a challenge when we had to raise the floor height till the level of overbeam in the first floor of a residence at Town Limit, Kollam. Need for sustainability, cost-effectiveness and innovation inspired us to try coconut shells as infills, over which conventional floor tiles were laid, saving a lot of concrete. If you wonder about the stability, remeber the fact that like arches are more tensile than beams, dome structures withstand loads better than flats. #sustainability #dome #costeffectivearchitecture #FlooringSolutions #overbeam #infillplay button

Project name- Tharavadu The 'Tharavadu' project involves the reconstruction of our client's ancestral home, with the primary goal of preserving their sentimental attachment to the original residence while infusing a modern touch. To achieve this, we designed the majority of the structure in Kerala's traditional style of architecture, using natural materials such as wood, brick, clay roof tiles, and terracotta jali. Bobby's abode has been revamped, utilizing white and heavy black-green tones; a color palette that is suitable for both adults and children.
