Gauri Khan recently appeared on Karan Johar’s chat show Koffee With Karan Season 7, where she spoke cryptically about the family’s difficulties following son Aryan’s incarceration last year. The Narcotic Control Bureau (NCB) nabbed Aryan Khan in a narcotics case last year during a cruise ship search. This year, he received a clean chit from the NCB.
Aryan Khan, the celebrity Shah Rukh Khan’s son, was detained in October last year in connection with the Mumbai cruise drug case. On October 28, after multiple court hearings, drama, and 26 days in detention, Aryan was granted bail by the Bombay High Court. Since then, no one in Aryan’s family has spoken out about it. However, on the 12th episode of Koffee With Karan 7, Gauri finally discussed her son’s arrest.
In other news, Gauri made her OTT debut with India’s no. 1 city-centric music and entertainment company, Mirchi, in its brand new show titled ‘Dream Homes With Gauri Khan’. The show will consist of six episodes in which Gauri Khan will be seen chatting with some of Bollywood’s top stars as they go deeper into the space makeover travels of their perfect house.
Now, without further ado let’s take you inside the interview where the producer and interior designer discusses how she finds inspiration and overcomes obstacles in her professional life, as well as an exciting collaboration with interior design firm Bonito Designs.
Gauri’s favourite themes are modern luxury and contemporary luxury. They achieve a mix between practicality and elegance. She enjoys making rooms seem warm, cosy, and comfortable. She also likes blending aspects such as old and modern, rustic and glitzy.
Gauri has always been fascinated with art and culture. It was natural to her to create and curate. The environments people live in are critical to the overall growth, and she finds great satisfaction in designing these settings to be favourable to creativity.
The most crucial communication is between Gauri’s clients. She likes to consider all of their suggestions because they will be spending the most time there. She places a high value on the space’s utility and accessibility.
When Gauri first enters a location, she is drawn to the dance of light and shadow. She wants the place to morph for the family and provide them with the house they’ve always wanted.
Using many styles or themes in the same room is a design no-no. Try to develop your own style and stick to it. This way, you’ll stay in your comfort zone, it’ll seem more personal, and you’ll enjoy spending more time there.
Gauri has a solid master strategy in place before I begin any assignment. Most design issues can be overcome with proper planning. A good team is also required to brainstorm and come up with swift answers. Design is not a one-man show, therefore having a knowledgeable team on board helps.
Gauri sits down and talks about how the project is deviating while working with a customer whose vision differs from hers. She attempts to debate the necessity for the space with them in order to reach a compromise. Some people are unable to envision or see the ultimate product, and it is an interior designer’s responsibility to instil confidence in them based on her expertise and understanding.
Gauri never designs a place based on trends, but rather on the sort of space she is constructing and the people who will occupy it. She typically follows the client’s wishes and the practical sensibility of design.
