5 Easy DIY Wall Art Ideas For Your Home

When you move into a new house, you always have that moment when you gaze at your empty walls, wondering how you’ll fill them and give them individuality. And, as much fun as it is to find wall art in stores, we’d like to recommend another option to spruce up your living room or bedroom walls: DIY artwork that you can produce yourself. It may appear scary, but we’re here to inform you that many DIY paintings, needlework pieces, and abstract artwork aren’t as difficult to produce as you think and may create a spectacular accent wall in your house. Handmade ideas are also ideal for adding interest to a gallery wall.

Making DIY wall art can also be a lot less expensive. Instead of buying that pricey piece you saw in a catalogue, you may make a nearly identical duplicate for a fraction of the price, plus you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing you produced it yourself. So set aside some quality alone time, gather your friends, or enlist the help of your children, because it’s time to produce some DIY wall art.

Here are five ideas to start with:

  • Oversize Square Wall Art
  • Basket Wall Art
  • Kitchen Wall Spoon Display
  • Framed Art of Nature Silhouettes
  • Chalk Paint Wall

Oversize Square Wall Art

A large-scale piece of painted plywood adds graphic interest to any room. To begin, cut a piece of plywood to the necessary size. Draw a quilt block with a pencil on the wood, using a ruler or painter’s tape for straight lines, and then paint it with acrylic paint. Finish by nailing 1/2-inch trim strips along the edges. Hang or lean against a wall.

A slew of baskets adds plenty of texture to a space. Hang a bigger basket in the centre with nails, then surround it with smaller baskets in a circular or starburst arrangement.

Kitchen Wall Spoon Display

Wooden spoons are available in a variety of sizes, shapes, and colours, making them ideal for ombre kitchen art. To put it together, cut a piece of plywood to the necessary size and paint it. Place the spoons on the wood in a light-to-dark pattern, then use a pencil to mark a location on both sides of each spoon, usually right below the bowl. Remove the spoons and drill holes where the indications are. Loop fine-gauge wire over the handle and through the holes of one spoon at a time; twist together wire ends under the wood to fasten. Repeat until finished, then hang.

Begin by gathering leaves and thin-stemmed branches. Place them on 11×14 canvas boards. Paint acrylic paint around the leaves with a spherical foam stencil brush, covering the canvas. Allow the boards to dry after removing the leaves. Touch-ups should be done using white paint. As desired, frame.

An entrance wall calendar will keep everyone up to date. Tape off a 35-square grid and two rectangles to the necessary size with the painter’s tape. Use acrylic chalkboard paint to decorate. When the tape has dried, remove it and smooth up any rough edges. Tie a length of twine around a piece of chalk, knot the end, and hang with a pushpin on the wall.
