Arjun Rampal, the supermodel turned Bollywood superstar, had a rocky start in the Hindi film industry. After making his debut in Rajiv Rai’s Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat in 2001, the actor struggled to get work. Many were quick to dismiss Arjun Rampal after a lukewarm box office response to Deewaanapan, Dil Hai Tumhaara, Tehzeeb, and Dil Ka Rishta. However, things began to improve after Farhan Akhtar cast him in the remake of Don, starring Shah Rukh Khan.
The film gave Rampal’s career a much-needed boost. His breakthrough performance in the 2008 film Rock On!, however, cemented his status as a bona fide actor, with his role receiving critical and commercial acclaim, as well as earning him the prestigious National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor at the 56th National Film Awards and the Filmfare for Best Supporting Actor Award at the 54th Filmfare Awards, among other honours.
Arjun Rampal prefers to keep out of the spotlight. Since 2018, the star has been dating South African designer Gabriella Demetriades, and the couple welcomed their first child, a boy named Arik, last year. Despite being quarantined with Demetriades in the nearby town of Karjat earlier this year, Rampal recently returned to his duplex in Bandra, Mumbai, to spend more time with his daughters, Mahikaa and Myra. The actor’s home is elegantly designed, with dramatic artwork, classic furniture, and sleek, sun-drenched corners.
Arjun Rampal and Gabriella Demetriades’ towering bookcase, which lies in a corner of their Bandra flat, is overflowing with colourful books, proving that this couple enjoys reading. This section also holds Rampal’s black guitar, implying that the actor likes to unwind with some music after a long day. A dark brown faux fur rug, similar to the one in the living room, is featured here, with a cocoon-like black lounge chair with a wooden base resting on top. The bench makes an ideal hideaway for quiet days spent curling up with a book or admiring the apartment’s stunning views of the city and the sea.
The tiny bedroom of Arjun Rampal and Gabriella Demetriades has plain white walls and floors, with a huge red, orange, and pink artwork taking centre stage and breaking the space’s neutral colour palette. The bed frame is upholstered with pristine white sheets and cushions, while the headboard is soft charcoal grey tufted. A fur-clad stool and a treadmill are in one corner, with a television set and console beside.
Arjun Rampal’s minimalist dining room has a six-seater table surrounded by grey chairs that match the sofas in his second sitting room. A black and white portrait of Kate Moss, as well as a multi-levelled ceiling fixture, provide an edgy touch to the room. The sitting room and dining area, like Rampal’s larger living room, have floor-to-ceiling windows that let in plenty of natural light. Arjun Rampal’s Mumbai home includes many additional elegantly constructed areas, in addition to the terrace with a birds-eye view of Mumbai.
