see every architects have their own policies, for me I consider the total Area of the building. we charge as per the sqft, it's not dependent on construction cost both are completely different, two face in building. one is design other is construction. both have different role. architects they charge in percentage who gives full assistance( a to z) to the completion of the building. that's high level of the market. top architects they charge like that. for example completion of your building cost 1cr,( includes labours+ materials +fittings+each and everything they calculate.) when architect charge 10 percentage. you have to give 10 lacks for them for the full assistance in different phases. 1cr + 10 lacks.

it's depends on how they experience in the fields of architecture and the quality of work. if you want good service you need to pay well. mostly architects charge as per sqft (40 to 200), someone charge 5 to 10 percentage of total costs of construction.
