Sustainable home? Thanks for the choice. I think you should go for an architect specialised in it. Incorporating more of recycled materials and reducing the amount of non-biodegradable materials, that increase carbon-footprints (specifically cement) will get you a real sustainable home. I suggest you not to look for a sustainable + costeffective construction combo, as its pretty complicated. You will have to compromise on any of the two at some point. All the best to you. You should contact an Architect or an Architectural Designer for a plan that suits your lifestyle, terrain and concepts. Please don't fall into any contractors trap, they might provide any plan, which you are then forced to like it.
