4 Recyclable Materials That Can Be Made Into Beautiful Home Decor

Did you realise your recyclable materials are full of lovely home decor? I’m not even talking about producing art out of trash, though I’ve seen some interesting works. I’m talking about beautiful home décor that you can place on your walls and have people assume you spent a fortune on it from a home decor website. That is a really lovely house décor. It all begins with the recycle bin.

Reusing common household recyclables that would otherwise be thrown away will cost you next to nothing if you’re wanting to make attractive home decor on a budget! Not only will your house appear completely stylish and chic without costing you a fortune, but you’ll also feel good about repurposing goods, giving them a new life, and keeping them out of the garbage. So, as you can see, we’re helping the environment through making.

1. Toilet Paper Rolls

Did you know that toilet paper and paper towel rolls can be transformed into gorgeous wall décor with only a little paint and glue? For a long time, I had toilet paper roll art on my walls, and no one who came to my house realised it was made of toilet paper rolls until we informed them. This is one of those crafting items that I keep on hand for future projects. It’s not like they’re difficult to find! This recyclable material can be used in these projects for simple yet elegant home decor:

  • Wreath made from toilet paper rolls
  • Toilet paper roll wall art
  • Mirror framed with toilet paper rolls

2. Cereal Boxes

Cereal boxes are ideal for transforming into attractive home décor. Cereal boxes are fantastic for constructing templates and also make great organisers. A simple piece of scrapbook paper or fabric may entirely convert an ordinary cereal box into a lovely and utilitarian decoration! Consider the following projects made from recyclable cereal boxes:

  • The cereal box turned into a magazine bin
  • Paper mache monograms from cereal boxes
  • Cereal box photo mats

3. Glass Bottles and Jars

Though some of the most popular glass bottle recyclable projects use mason jars, you may easily apply the same techniques to any glass food jar you have. Glass jars are ideal for transforming into gorgeous storage, as well as vases and centrepieces for holidays and gatherings. Consider the following glass jar projects:

  • Glitter glass jars
  • Wine bottle vases
  • Glass bottles turned into vases

4. Cardboard Boxes

We always seem to have a surplus of boxes, so I’m constantly looking for interesting and innovative ways to recycle them. I keep a few various sizes on hand for our personal mailing requirements, but the rest are used to make interesting decorations and crafts! Consider the following recyclable cardboard box projects:

  • Twine-wrapped basket made from a cardboard box
  • The cardboard box turned into a window valance
  • Monogram letters from cardboard boxes
