Kate Winslet sold one of her old properties in West Chelsea for little under $5.7 million, bidding farewell to her New York City penthouse condo. The duplex penthouse in the centre of New York City is bright and airy, with spectacular views of the city, including the High Line and the Hudson River.

The Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet now resides largely in the United Kingdom with her husband, Edward Abel Smith. However, the actress bought the three-bedroom condo with her ex-husband, Oscar-winning filmmaker, producer, and director Sam Mendes, in 2004.

Kate Winslet returned to England in 2013, and two years later, she paid $4.3 million for an eight-bedroom seaside mansion in West Wittering, Sussex. Her husband, Edward Abel Smith, and her three children, Mia, Joe, and Bear live there.

Kate Winslet’s 1,700 sq. ft. outdoor living space spans the majority of the upper floor of the two-level apartment; the level also has a light-enclosed room with a bath and walk-in closet that may be converted into a second bedroom suite. The home includes three bedrooms on its main level with the present accommodation design, with the master suite boasting a large bath with a claw-foot soaking tub.

A beautiful corridor leads into the living area, with a timeless round mirror over a dark brown hall table. Floor-to-ceiling bookshelves span the rear wall, providing enough chance to add colour and interest. The penthouse’s second significant selling point is a 48-foot-wide great room with a 13-foot ceiling, white wood plank, a fireplace with a hearth step, and a towering wall of built-in inset shelves on the lower level.

The area is dominated by a 46-foot-wide open plan living room with huge windows affording vistas of New York. The floors are white-washed wide-plank wood, and the 13-foot-high ceilings give the area a spacious sense.

The unadorned fireplace serves as a focal point for the area, providing symmetry. The room’s design is kept simple, with plenty of neutral colours.

Kate Winslet’s kitchen likewise has a 13-foot ceiling and its own shelf niches. The light hardwood floor is complemented by a hardwood island and breakfast bar with an enormous butcher-block crown and wooden cabinets. As is customary in every New York apartment, a fairly small but fully equipped kitchen is hidden away in the corner.

The bathroom has been furnished in a sleek modern colour scheme, but with an antique-type sink and claw-footed tub, toeing the line between modern and traditional. Outside, the gorgeous 1,700 square foot wraparound roof terrace provides breathtaking views of the Highline and the Hudson River.
