WHAT IS THE COST OF A MODULAR KITCHEN

1. The cost of a modular kitchen can vary a lot

There are two types: Fully modular and semi modular

In modular kitchen the full carcass and shutter is made in a factory and sent on site for installation after which the stone ( mostly granite ) is installed.

In semi modular kitchen the stone is put before the kitchen and there for full carcass is not required to take weight. In this module most of the times there will be no back and base and top. Two vertices will be joined by horizontal strip of plywood instead of a full piece.

The construction method of the carcass in semi modular kitchen also varies and can affect the actual cost.

2. Next factor is base material.

There are many types of base materials that can be used.
Particle board, MDF, HDF, Commercial plywood, Alternate plywood,BWR plywood, BWP plywood and PVC.

In general situation Particle board will be the most inexpensive while BWP plywood or PVC will be the most expensive.

3. Finishing material used on shutters and carcass also play a very big role in the cost.

Till this point, the cost cannot be easily calculated as every person will have different quality of materials, manufacturing machinery, manpower etc…

4. Accessories you plan to put in your modular kitchen

By accessories, we mean your baskets and other fittings. These can vary from basic stainless steel baskets like plain baskets, cutlery baskets, thali baskets, cup and saucer baskets etc…

Other fittings like corner units can vary from few thousands to few ten thousands. Tall units are other expensive fittings.

5. The best quality of edge-band. This will increase life of product.

6. Next step is hardware. Good brands include Hettich, Hafele etc…

7. The most crucial part of every kitchen comes installation

The most crucial part because even if you have taken the best quality material, If installation is not proper your kitchen will not survive well for long.

Never compromise on installers. 90% of the times the installers are given by the vender itself.
