Mirrors are a commodity seen in every household. The concept of an affordable house which is a dream for the common man in India is emphasized through the adaptive reuse of discarded old mirror pieces collected by the owner which adorns the walls of the house as decorative features. Adding to this, the interiors enriched with an interplay of light, shadow and reflections makes it no less than a “house of mirrors”.

The house is seated in a plot of 5 cents within the city limits in a dense residential area in Kerala, India. The major challenge was to fit all the requirements appealing to a modern-day family of four within the availa

The important thing to be taken care of is leakage.

Waterproofing in buildings is the formation of an impervious barrier over surfaces of foundations, roofs, walls and other structural members of building to prevent water penetrations through these surfaces. The building surfaces are made water-resistant and sometimes waterproof.

The most common types of waterproofing are cementitious waterproofing, liquid waterproofing membrane, bituminous membrane, bituminous coating, and polyurethane liquid membrane.

As we know we have for almost 8-9 months in a year so we need to be aware of it.
Waterproofing should be done at the time of construction. Like we say precaution is better than cure.
Always consult an engineer or waterproofing specialist to protect your dream.

Covers are given to provide protection against corrosion and fire to the rebars. If less cover is provided, protection against the above will be inadequate. And if more than required is provided then the concrete on the tension side of any structural member, will crack under tension.
Cover is provided to increase the structural integrity and coherence of the concrete in cover region. Concrete covering is provided in every element of the building (Slabs, Beams, Columns Footings) wherever the reinforcement is used.
For a longitudinal reinforcing bar in a column, a concrete cover not less than 40 mm not less than the diameter of such a bar should be provided. In the case of columns of the minimum dimension of 20 cm or under, whose reinforcing bars do not exceed 12 mm, the concrete cover of 25 mm is to be used for reinforcement.
